Young Celtic centre-back Stephen Welsh has claimed the whole squad are behind Scott Brown staying at the club beyond this summer and claims the player is massive to the Hoops.
The Celtic Captain is out of contract at the end of June at which point it will be up to our new manager and CEO of the midfielder lands a new deal.
Brown has been in and out of the side this year and has blown hot and cold at points. Some believe it might be the best time for the Hoops legend to finish his Celtic career. But the players want him around.
There’s also speculation about a move into coaching but does Broony want to hang up his boots just yet?
Stephen Welsh wants to see his captain continue beyond this summer and hopes the club and Scott can come to an arrangement.
“Broony is massive for us. Massive.” Welsh told SunSport. “He’s our leader and we’d miss him a lot if he wasn’t here next season. We need to take every day as it comes. I really don’t know what he’s going to do.
“Personally I would love him to be here as long as possible because he helps me so much.
“He helps every single player in the team as captain and when he’s on the pitch he is brilliant for us.
“We will see what happens but Broony is such an important player for us.
“He has been brilliant for Celtic for so many years and it goes without saying that we all want him to stay.”
To be honest, his influence off the pitch is probably greater than anything on it this year.
There could be a chance for Brown to become a Celtic coach but I’d be surprised if he hung up his boots at the end of this season.
Could he make a move elsewhere?
