The Celtic players who didn’t take part in international duty may be heading back to Lennoxtown on Monday but one man who won’t be there is Callum McGregor who will now go off and get some well needed rest.
Callum’s season finally came to an end on Tuesday night when he played his part in a 3-0 defeat to Belgium. That put the Celtic midfielder at 69 games played in 336 days for club and country – remarkable.
The 25-year-old has come of age in the past two seasons and the sheer volume of games has certainly helped with his development although towards the end of the Celtic season you could see the player struggling a little bit.
It’s only natural after you play so many games that your form is likely to dip. He has always given 100% though for Celtic and Scotland. The midfielder will only get a short break between now and Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers which start in July.
Take a bow, Callum.
Callum McGregor’s 2018/19 season has lasted 11 months and 1 day!
69 games in 336 days: on average less that 5 days between each game over almost a whole year!
Enjoy your holiday, Callum – in 29 days we go again! pic.twitter.com/SsEJ59O9mY
