In today’s game and especially if you’re a Celtic fan you will know the ins and outs of the current transfer system when it comes to add-ons and sell-on fees etc.

Gone are the days when you just sold a player and that was that, everyone is looking for a future cut and it makes good business sense if you’re selling a hot commodity.

With that in mind, SunSport reported this week linking Jozo Simunovic with a £5m move away from Celtic to Lille has potentially flagged up a large chunk of any fee going to his former club.

Celtic purchased the defender from Dinamo Zagreb and according to the Scotsman the player has a sell-on fee attached and are quoting up to 25% could be on the table for the Croatian side should Jozo make the move.

The hidden transfer clause doesn’t become an issue until you go to sell a player. Right now, £5m for Jozo minus any sell-on fee would do more harm than good.

  1. He is a big part of the Celtic team and he stays like him or not he can do a job and we need CHs so this one stays, look are we going sell all our players then blame it on them spending money they never had that stopped us winning the league we know you never get those titles back so lets keep Jozo and buy in the players we need so every one understands there was No Mistake who won the league…

Stay very focused buy in the players we need and keep the players we have who we know that can do the job at hand. they are buying in new teams each season trying to catch up,spend £25 million this window on new players and set them back plenty of years, turn the screw so tight so 9 and 10 plus come to those who pay the cash to be number 1……..

  2. Remember that you usually take the orginal fee from the sum you sell for. Then the percentage comes into play.

So if we bought for 2 mill and sold for 5. Its 25% of 3 mill. Would be surprised if Lawell allowed a 25% level
