Confirmed Celtic Starting XI vs Aberdeen: Trusty and McGregor Start

Martin O’Neill has named his Celtic starting XI to face Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership at Celtic Park tonight.

Celtic go into the game after a busy spell on and off the pitch, with transfer business continuing late in the window and fresh injury concerns emerging ahead of the visit of the Dons.

The Hoops have been dealing with a growing list of issues in recent days, with Kieran Tierney, Kasper Høgh and Callum Osmand all absent from training earlier this week.

Kieran Tierney is expected to miss tonight’s game after failing to train in recent days, leaving Celtic with a decision to make on the left side of defence. His absence gives O’Neill another early-season problem to solve, with Liam Scales likely to start.

With Landon Emenalo now officially a Celtic player, there is a chance he could be involved tonight if he is deemed fit enough, but Liam Scales remains the most likely option to start on the left side of defence.

Høgh has also been a concern after missing training, while Osmand is expected to be out for longer with an ankle issue. The young striker had been looking to build on his early impact in the first team, but he now faces a spell on the sidelines.

There is better news in midfield, with Callum McGregor expected to be available again after missing the weekend game against Falkirk through illness. The Celtic captain was not involved at Celtic Park on Saturday, but his return gives O’Neill an important boost in the middle of the park.

Celtic’s domestic form has remained strong, but questions have continued over how many chances they are giving up to opposition sides. Aberdeen arrive at Celtic Park looking to take advantage of any uncertainty in a Hoops side still finding its rhythm under O’Neill.
