Confirmed Celtic Starting XI vs Dundee: Trusty and Høgh Start

Celtic have named their starting XI for tonight’s Scottish Premiership opener against Dundee at Celtic Park.

Martin O’Neill’s side begin the defence of their league title on Flag Night, with the trophy set to be presented before kick-off following last season’s dramatic success.

The Hoops secured the title with a 3-1 victory over Hearts on the final day of the 2025/26 campaign and now begin the new season in front of Celtic supporters at Paradise. 

O’Neill has had several big decisions to make ahead of his first competitive team selection of the campaign.

The goalkeeping position has been one area of interest following Kasper Schmeichel’s retirement, with Viljami Sinisalo looking to establish himself as Celtic’s new first choice.

There have also been questions across the back line. Liam Scales is unavailable through suspension, meaning O’Neill has been forced to make a change in central defence for the visit of Steven Pressley’s side.

Attention has also been on Celtic’s new attacking options.

Kasper Høgh and Camilo Duran have both arrived during the summer and were in contention to make their competitive debuts against Dundee.

Høgh joined Celtic last week following an impressive spell with Bodø/Glimt, while Duran made a positive start during the club’s pre-season fixtures.

There has also been plenty of interest in whether Alistair Johnston and Arne Engels will be involved amid ongoing transfer speculation around both players.

Celtic have the chance to make an early mark in the title race after Rangers began their league campaign with a 1-1 draw against Dundee United at Tannadice.

Hearts and Hibernian also lost their opening fixtures, meaning a victory tonight would give O’Neill’s side an early advantage over several expected challengers.

Dundee arrive at Celtic Park after finishing eighth last season. They also recorded a 2-0 win over Celtic at Dens Park during the previous campaign, so O’Neill’s players will know they cannot take the visitors lightly.
