Celtic have a massive game this afternoon against Livingston away from home and the team news is out.

While Celtic fans were wondering if Liam Scales would start or Giakoumakis would make the squad, everyone was blindsided by the reintroduction of Boli Bolingoli.

His last appearance in 2020, a cameo against Hibernian which would cause Celtic to have two games postponed after it was revealed the defender had broken strict protocols and left the country during the height of the pandemic.

It’s a fascinating sub plot today and here’s the five major talking points from our editor @CraigCelt:

  • Return of the Boli
  • McCarthy starts/CalMac still out
  • Welsh comes in/Starfelt doesn’t make squad [injury?]
  • Scales could debut
  • Giakoumakis hasn’t made the squad.

Taylor bring out has necessitated Boli’s reintroduction to the team for sure. Let’s see if he can make a real go of things under Ange.

If McCarthy is truly fit then he does offer Cal Mac some respite even times when the captain isn’t injured. It’s a big day for the Celtic fan!

Welsh coming back in shows Ange wants to use his squad to the full. Starfelt not making the team does suggest an injury for the Swede.

Scales could see some game time under the right circumstances today. The Irishman has been waiting since the beginning of August to make his debut.

Giakoumakis hasn’t made it into the squad this afternoon but will likely now face Raith Rovers on Thursday.

  1. McCarthy is an absolute disgrace. I have not seen as bad a performance in a long time. Turnbull hopeless as well. This is turning into a disaster. Soro, Bitton and Johnstone on. I doubt whether Bitton or Soro will do much. Looks like its down to you Mikey to salvage a point.
