Martin O’Neill has named his Celtic starting XI to face Falkirk in the Scottish Premiership at Celtic Park this afternoon.
The Bhoys’ domestic form had been strong before that game, with a 1-0 win over Dundee, a 5-1 away victory at Kilmarnock and a 4-0 win over Dundee United.
Questions continue to be asked of Celtic and how many chances they are giving up to opposition sides, with a common theme throughout the opening games of the season being that opponents have been able to create opportunities.
Going into today’s game against Falkirk, Jota and Alistair Johnston are the only confirmed absentees according to Martin O’Neill, with Jota due back before November and Johnston out until October at the earliest.
Callum McGregor will reportedly not be play any part against Falkirk, according to SunSport.
The Celtic captain was reportedly not on the team bus as the squad arrived at Celtic Park, meaning he will miss this afternoon’s game after sitting out Friday training with a stomach bug.
Despite Kieran Tierney, Colby Donovan and Cameron Carter-Vickers all being substituted against the Austrian champions and appearing to struggle, O’Neill put that down to knocks, with each player in contention to start against the Bairns after training at Lennoxtown.
The final concern was Kasper Høgh, who played the full 120 minutes in Linz. However, speaking to the press on Friday, he confirmed he was good to go today.
It remains to be seen how much O’Neill rotates the team after Tuesday’s extra-time defeat, with Celtic looking to recover from one of the most sobering nights in recent memory when they return to Scottish Premiership action just four days later.
