CELTIC are working on a number of fronts to try and strengthen the squad for not only now but in the summer.

Longtime Celtic scouting target Nick Powell has now entered the last six months of his deal and is free to talk to any club who wish to sign him in the summer.

Powell, 24, who previously was signed for Manchester United for a whopping £6million has had a blistering start to the season which was curtailed by injury at the back end of 2018.

As the player gets set to make a return to the Wigan team, is future is still uncertain and if reports are accurate, Celtic are still interested in the player.

Given the player’s position, there would be no need to call upon him until the summer so if Celtic do decide to sign him then he would be free to play the rest of the season with Wigan.

At this point in the January transfer window, Celtic fans are looking for player’s for the here and now and while Powell could be an exciting acquisition – it doesn’t help us going forward in the interim.
