Celtic cruised to a 5-0 win over Ross County at Celtic Park, which sees the Hoops five points clear of Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
With Aberdeen in action against Hearts tomorrow at Tynecastle at 3pm, following a defeat against St Mirren last weekend in Paisley and a dramatic draw against Hibernian midweek, the Dons’ away form in recent games has fallen off.
In the space of a week, Jimmy Thelin’s side have gone from level with Celtic at the top to five points behind, with a game in hand, in what has been a great week for the Hoops in the Premiership.
With Celtic traveling to Pittodrie on Wednesday, ahead of the game, all the pressure is on Aberdeen to get the win tomorrow.
With an extra day’s rest, it can only benefit the Hoops in what is an incredibly busy period of the season.
To the other side of Glasgow, where the Rangers, under Philippe Clement, now trail by 14 points with a game in hand.
With a tough trip to Perth against St Johnstone at 12pm tomorrow, with the game live on Sky Sports Football, it could be points dropped too far for Clement, with anything but a win adding pressure on a manager who has already lost.
Given that at this stage last season Clement’s side were certainly not 14 points behind, it highlights, in the space of a year, how much Celtic have improved under Brendan Rodgers and how much Rangers have fallen off under the Belgian.
