The Japanese forward has joined Preußen Münster, who currently sit 15th in the 2. Bundesliga, Germany’s second tier. It’s a move designed to get the striker game time after a frustrating start to life in Glasgow.

Yamada has made 12 appearances for the Hoops since signing in the summer but has yet to score or register an assist. He arrived from Kawasaki Frontale, the same club Reo Hatate joined from, but hasn’t had the same impact.

He’ll now look to rebuild his confidence and find his form in Germany, and could come up against fellow Celtic loanee Maik Nawrocki in May, with the defender currently on loan at Hannover and recently returning from injury.

Yamada has shown flashes of promise but hasn’t been able to make the breakthrough. This loan spell could prove crucial in determining whether he has a future at Celtic Park.

Meanwhile, Celtic will look to strengthen the squad with less than a week remaining in this window.

Another striker could arrive, while a winger and a centre-half must be high on Celtic’s list.  Martin O’Neill has admitted that he’s not expecting three or four additions.
