Celtic’s developmental striker Jonathan Afolabi has gone out on loan for the rest of the season to Dunfermline to get game time according to Radio Scotland and cited by SunSport.

The player came in from Southampton in the summer with many believing he could make the breakthrough this term. However, an injury curtailed his progress and he’s only been playing in a handful of games for developmental as well the Ireland under 21s.

The Irish set up value the striker highly but Neil Lennon hasn’t seen enough to make the Irishman part of his match day squad. Much like Lee O’Connor, the player will now get the chance to experience the rough end of Scottish football before coming back into the fold this summer.

It’s a strange one nobody in the SPFL has taken a look at Jonathan, but their loss is Dunfermline’s gain. Hopefully, he comes back in the summer ready to hit the ground running in pre-season.
