Patryk Klimala has flown out to New York to clinch his move away from Celtic it has emerged.

Reports over the past 24 hours have linked the Polish striker with a move to New York Red Bull and it now looks to be in its final stages.

Klimala has made 28 appearances for the club scoring three goals.

It’s not a great return from the frontman who hasn’t hit the heights many would’ve hoped.

SunSport report the deal in place could reach up to £3.5m – what Celtic originally paid for the striker. It will see Patryk sign a lucrative long term deal with the MLS side.

Celtic are heading into a major rebuild and it was unlikely Paddy would have been part of it.

The club making money for the player now means they already have some money to play with to start making moves for next season.

Edouard is likely going to leave in the summer and with Griffiths contract not sorted, we could be very thin on the ground with forwards during pre-season.

  1. Most comments on this have said the same sort of thing and I agree with them.
If you’ve paid attention (some fans seemingly haven’t), we’ve had a promising youngster in the team, who is strong on the ball, has a bit of pace, and bags of energy, but despite shelling out for him, we brought in Ajeti, gave lots of game time to Griff, and gave Klimala a few sub runs and a handful of starts. I don’t think he got enough game time, during a poor season, to properly progress. The risk is that we lose all our strikers now during the summer. And it means Klimala gets a very good career move to the States, and we’re all left hoping that Griff stays and gets back to his best because there will be nobody else….
