The international break is always a nervous time for Celtic fans but this international break holds more importance than most because of what’s at stake when club football returns.

Celtic have seven games left in the SPFL and Scottish Cup Semi-Final against The Rangers. A treble isn’t off the table at the moment but we need to keep our players fit. International duty hasn’t been kind to us this season and as players get set to represent their countries, it’s time to collectively hold our breaths.

Unfortunately, there’s already been one Celtic injury during the break but thankfully it’s not a first team player.

Celtic’s January signing Jonny Kenny went off injured for Ireland on Wednesday evening against the England under 19s. The Irish were hoping Jonny would get among the goals but the striker only lasted 35 minutes.

It’s disappointing for Jonny; when the frontman signed for Celtic in January he had to isolate due to testing positive for the virus. He then sustained an injury that kept him from the training field.

The Irishman had been training with the first team as of late and hoped to get minutes for his country that would help him get match sharp. In the end, Celtic will now be looking to assess Jonny to see what sort of setback he’s suffered..

Let’s just hope that’s the extent of Celtic’s bad luck this international break.
