Olivier Giroud

Yes, another French striker who would go to do his part in the English Premier League. in 2009 it was Gordon Strachan who tried to lure the big Frenchman to Celtic Park. At one point the club was favourites to land Giroud for only £2.5million. Speaking at the time the striker knew he was going to be leaving his current club Tours.

“We’re now at a stage where a lot of thinking has to be done. There is a lot of interest in me.

“Celtic and Middlesbrough are the most persistent but there’s also interest from Montpellier, Valenciennes, Monaco and Toulouse. “On one hand I feel content at Tours but on the other, there are opportunities for me to go abroad or play in Ligue 1 in January.

Giroud opted to stay in France and sign for Montpellier, before heading back on -loan to Tours and eventually to Arsenal. He has since recently moved to Chelsea.
