There’s a lot of chat surrounding no away fans being permitted into Celtic Park since the return of supporters.

The red zone that’s been implemented by UEFA and the SPFL means clubs have to make sure there’s a safe area for players and coaches. This displaces supporters from their usual seats and is the reason why Celtic are still not able to permit domestic fans to their games.

However, we’re about to get our first away support visit of the season on Thursday when Bayer Leverkusen come to town.

CeltsAreHere have been told the club will permit fans of the German club to the game and can do so because UEFA’s red zone requirements aren’t as stringent as the SPFLs.

It will be little consolation to Dundee Utd fans who would want to be in Glasgow for their showdown with Celtic on Sunday. The SPFL could step in and try and find a solution to the domestic away support issue at Celtic Park and across the city at Ibrox.

We’re not sure of the numbers Bayer Leverkusen are being allowed for Thursday but it will be good to see an away support back in the ground. It makes for a much better atmosphere.

It’s been 18 months since an away support was permitted into Celtic Park.
