It looks like Celtic’s pursuit of Marco Rose is over before it even had the chance to begin with the Salzburg manager on the brink of a deal to the Bundesliga according to Sports Witness.

The website claims Monchengladbach who have just announced their manager Dieter Hecking will be leaving at the end of the season almost have a deal in place to take Rose from the Austrian side in the summer.

There was no real evidence to say Celtic were ever in the market for the manager, fans certainly wanted to see if he was an option and the bookies had him as one of the favourites to take over permanently in Glasgow this summer.

If the reports are true, Celtic now have one less ‘candidate’ for the role going forward as Peter Lawwell and Dermot Desmond decide who will be the next full time manager.

We will let you know in due course if these reports are proved to be accurate.
