CELTIC have missed out on the chance to re-sign Jason Denayer with reports yesterday evening the defender is now in France ahead of a move to Lyon.
The double treble champions showed an interest in bringing the Belgian back after having an impressive first spell at the club when he was only 19.
Denayer won young player of the year and built up a great partnership with Virgil van Dijk at the time.
Since then, the defender has played for Galatasaray and Sunderland – the Turkish side were also desperate to land Jason but have missed out.
The transfer window closes in under two weeks and Celtic may have to hang onto Boyata out of necessity if they can’t find a suitable replacement.
