Celtic target and Hibernian left-back, Josh Doig has spoken out about recently being linked to English Premier League side Leicester City.

As quoted by Edinburgh Live, Doig has recently been linked to several English sides as well as the Hoops after an impressive first season playing for the Leith side, admitting his excitement at seeing some of the links to other teams.

“It is obviously exciting (the Leicester link). The first I seen of it was when my dad showed me on Twitter. It is still madness to myself, but I can’t focus on that too much.

“But it is exciting and it is a confidence boost for myself when big clubs like that seem to be interested. What’s for me won’t go by me, I have always said that. I am not looking ahead to the summer, I have been just focusing on the games.”

Left-back is a position that has been a difficult one for the club to recruit, especially when you are trying to replace a player such as Kieran Tierney.

Doig has been very impressive so far this season and at 18-years old has become a first-team regular in Jack Ross’ side.

Bringing in Doig could be seen as a good investment for the future. A fee of around £1 million was previously quoted and it could be a sound investment for the club going forward.

Of course, it is important that the new manager, whoever he is, can be given the choice of players he may want to recruit. However, with a player like Josh Doig, it shouldn’t be an opportunity that we should miss if he is available for the right price.
