It is being reported that Celtic are now willing to listen to offers for defender Stephen Welsh during this January transfer window [@AnthonyRJoseph].

The 22-year-old has attracted interest for quite a while now as clubs such as Toulouse and Udinese expressed an interest in the Celtic youth graduates services.

Welsh is attracting interest from clubs in Europe and the MLS and may possibly depart Parkhead during January.

Game time has been few and far between for Welsh this season having only made six appearances for the first team.

He was last included in a matchday squad when Celtic took on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu as his last appearance for the club was back in early October during the dramatic 2-1 win against St Johnstone.

Ange Postecoglou recently added Japanese defender Yuki Kobayashi to the side as the former Vissel Kobe braces himself to make his Hoops debut having been on the bench for the past two games since joining the club.

Kobayashi’s arrival may signal the end for Welsh who looks to have dramatically dropped down the pecking order at Celtic Park as Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt remain the first choice picks along with Moritz Jenz also being in the mix.

The only way Welsh will develop is to get gametime and although Ange Postecoglou clearly likes the defender it may be in the interest of the former Scotland Under-21 international to depart the club.
