CELTIC loan bhoy Jack Hendry has had a fantastic season for his loan club.

The defender has received so many plaudits for his first season in the Belgian league and now it’s getting to crunch time.

Oostende have an option to buy the player for what Celtic paid for him two and a half years ago. The fee is around the £1.5m range according to RecordSport.

The Belgian club have until May 31st to trigger that option on the Celtic defender.

What would happen if Oostende did trigger the option?

There has been a lot of confusion surrounding this on our social media feeds. If Oostende trigger the option to buy [which we do expect to happen], Hendry doesn’t automatically become a permanent player for the club.

Oostende would then need to thrash out a deal with Jack and offer him a contract.

It would then be up to the player himself if he accepted or rejected the terms of a deal.

Record Sport also report the Belgian club could be looking to flip the player.

Basically, it’s claimed they want to sign Jack from Celtic for a small fee then sell him for a much higher fee to one of the clubs interested in the centre-back.

It still feels like Hendry is hedging his bets and waiting to see what happens at Celtic with a new manager before committing fully.
