There has been no agreement between Schalke 04 and Christopher Jullien with the player already back in Glasgow [Fabrizio Romano].

It looked like the Frenchman was about to make the move to Germany, but so far the defender and German side have not been able to come to an agreement with the deal still open.

Ange Postecoglou obviously doesn’t see a future for Jullien at Celtic Park and wants to get the player out the door to free up some wages with the 29-year old likely to be on a very healthy wage due to the price-tag which the Hoops shelled out to get him back in 2019.

Romano has said that Celtic will now negotiate with other clubs to find a solution which looks good on the part that there isn’t any issues with fitness as it appears that the former Toulouse man has passed everything with there being extensive athletic and medical checks in place.

Derek Rae who covers Bundesliga football for ESPN has said, “It was these final conversations that proved the death knell for the deal. The clubs had agreed but Schalke and the player ultimately couldn’t come together on terms” [Twitter].

There could be potential in that Jullien wants a guarantee of game time which Schalke possibly couldn’t offer the defender due to his recent injury history.

Hopefully another club fancies taking a chance on the defender which will allow the club to trigger a years contract extension and hopefully move on for a fee next summer.
