Celtic could finally get the cash injection they’ve been waiting in for two and half years ever since Moussa Dembele left the club to move to Lyon.

At the time, Moussa became our record fee received for a player but it was later trumped by Kieran Tierney going to Arsenal.

Like most of Celtic’s dealing with upcoming players who they’ve helped develop, they stick a sell-on clause to deals to make sure they get a cut when they hit it even bigger.

In the case of Virgil van Dijk, it paid off handsomely although many could argue we let the Dutchman go for too low a fee to begin with.

Moussa has been linked with a move away from Lyon for almost 18 months and the media have speculated his next destination from Spain to England. Nothing has convinced Lyon to part with the striker to this point.

According to RecordSport, Atletico Madrid are lining up a move for the French striker and if they manage to convince Lyon to part with Moussa, Celtic would land a chunk of the transfer fee.

Given financials due to the current pandemic, it would be a welcome boost if it Madrid did make their move.
