We want to clear up confusion about what Ange Postecoglou said in the pre-match press conference last week with regards to transfers.

CeltsAreHere reported on Ange’s comments at the time, the Celtic manager specified he was not in talks with any other player ‘right now’ when asked about potential deals and rumours already circulating

‘As we speak RIGHT NOW, there is no other offers or people I’ve spoken to’ he told Celtic’s youtube channel.

It was to quell the misinformation coming out about several potential targets and names floating about in the media. The manager declared those rumours were ‘all lies’, either made up by the media or agents to garner more interest.

Some fans took Ange’s comments that there would be no more incoming between then and the end of the January window. He never specified it was the case, Ange merely said he’s happy enough with his squad but if something changes or a deal comes up that suits him and the club, they’ll look at it.

That’s appeared to happen in the case of MK Dons player Matt O’Riley who looks increasingly likely to become a Celtic player.

The Athletic have confirmed the 21-year-old is in talks with Celtic and MK Dons have agreed a fee for the midfielder.

When we first reported on the move this afternoon, many of our social media comment boxes were lit up with fans saying Ange had already shut up shop. We want to make it clear, that was never the case.
