Erik Sviatchenko has continued his tribute to Kasper Schmeichel by revealing he hopes the injured goalkeeper will return in time to play in the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen, just like Sviatchenko did in 2017 to win a domestic treble.
Sviatchenko came off the bench in the 90+4th minute of stoppage time, just after Tom Rogic had netted the winner, with the Danish defender winning a treble in his first full season at Celtic after joining the season before under Ronny Deila.
Sviatchenko’s Celtic career would peter out after the treble, leaving on loan six months later before departing permanently a year after winning the treble. However, he still keeps an eye on the Hoops and is in regular contact with Schmeichel.
He said: (TCW), “Kasper is a great friend, and I am desperate to see him return to the team and hopefully be part of another Treble-winning side.
“I hope he will get fit for the Scottish Cup final and that he gets the chance to experience what I did. If not, I’m sure the guys will do it for him.”

It’s an experience that Sviatchenko will never forget — winning a treble at Hampden in the last game of the season with a stoppage-time winner from Rogic. He is clearly desperate for Schmeichel to experience the same.
The Dane is still at the very top of his game, has an elite mentality, and will be doing whatever he can behind the scenes to speed up the recovery process from his shoulder injury.
Everyone at Celtic will be desperate to see Schmeichel back fit as quickly as possible. However, Viljami Sinisalo has done well in his absence.
