There was no need for transfer negotiations between Celtic and MK Dons over the players fee for Matt O’Riley.

The English club has revealed The Hoops triggered the midfielder’s buyout clause and it was down to the player to negotiate his wages with Celtic.

The deal happened so swiftly and smoothly over the past few days we were wondering how it happened. Matt’s release clause makes a lot of sense and it’s something the player insisted upon when dropping down a division to play for MK Dons.

The fee is rumoured to be around £1.5m for the player and Celtic will be hoping they’ve grabbed another bargain.

Matt was confirmed as a Celtic player on Thursday evening and could go straight into the Scottish cup squad on Saturday to face Alloa.

The bhoys have a lot of fixtures and the news Tom Rogic has been called up to Australia, Matt could certainly find himself in the heart of midfield very quickly.
