Celtic trio Kyogo, Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate have been called up to the Japan squad for the Kirin Challenge Cup!

Maeda’s call up wasn’t surprising but Kyogo coming back into the fold and now Reo Hatate getting his chance is great to see.

Kyogo was devastated to miss out on the World Cup back in November with only Daizen making the cut for the Celtic Japanese contingent.

It presents an opportunity for Kyogo to show Japan what they’ve been missing. For Reo, this could help take his career to the next level.

Japan will be up against El Salvador and Peru in June.

By then, all three men could be treble winners. Before the bhoys break off for the summer, they have a massive cup final where they can make their own history in Glasgow.

Reo and Kyogo being called up also gives Celtic a boost. Both players won’t feel like they need to leave Celtic to be noticed by their international side and it gives us even more of an incentive for top Japanese stars to come to Celtic.
