The Celtic Trust have laid down their position ahead of Friday’s AGM, confirming they will vote against the reappointment of the club’s most senior board members.

The supporters’ shareholder group published their full voting intentions across all 17 resolutions, signalling a clear challenge to the current leadership at a moment of major transition for the club.

Their stance comes during a week when Celtic hope to appoint a new manager, and at a time when questions around recruitment, direction and communication have dominated discussion among supporters. The Trust’s decision to oppose eight separate board reappointments reflects growing frustration with how the club has been run over the past two seasons.

In contrast, they will back operational resolutions that keep the business functioning smoothly, including the appointment of auditors and authorisation for share activity. They will also support a board restructure and a demand for a long-term strategic plan, areas they believe are critical to modernising the club’s governance.

The publication of their votes adds further weight to what is expected to be a heated AGM. With Celtic searching for stability on and off the pitch, the Trust’s intervention sets the tone for a meeting where accountability and clarity will be front and centre.

The Trust confirmed they will vote against the reappointment of Brian Rose, Brian Wilson, Chris McKay, Dermot Desmond, Michael Nicholson, Peter Lawwell, Sharon Brown and Tom Allison. They will also vote against the Directors’ Remuneration Policy and the Remuneration Report.

They will back resolutions covering the appointment of auditors, auditor remuneration, authority to allot shares, disapplication of pre-emption rights, the preparation of a detailed 3–5 year strategic report and a board restructure.

The most striking element of the Trust’s position is the breadth of their opposition. Rejecting every reappointment resolution signals a belief that the club needs a fresh start in the boardroom. While such votes are unlikely to remove directors given the presence of major institutional shareholders, the symbolic impact is significant. It reflects the wider mood among the support, where concern has been growing over recruitment setbacks, a lack of communication and the repetitive cycle of managerial friction.

The Trust’s decision to oppose the remuneration resolutions also reflects dissatisfaction with how executives have been rewarded relative to performance. Supporter groups have long argued that success on the pitch and investment in the squad should be prioritised ahead of boardroom pay rises. Their voting stance continues that theme.

Backing resolutions related to business operations shows the group are not pursuing disruption for its own sake. Instead, they are pushing for structural reform and transparency. The support for Resolution 16, which asks the club to publish a detailed plan covering football, financial and strategic matters, is especially pointed. It’s a direct call for the clarity fans feel has been missing during managerial changes and recent transfer windows.

Their support for a board restructure highlights a desire for modernisation. Celtic’s governance model has faced criticism for years, with questions raised around overlapping roles, influence at executive level and the lack of a clearly defined sporting structure. The Trust see the AGM as a chance to apply pressure for reform.

All of this unfolds while Celtic edge closer to announcing a new head coach, a moment the board hoped would reset the mood ahead of Friday. With the Trust now publicly stating their position, the spotlight shifts firmly onto Parkhead’s hierarchy. The AGM will bring shareholders face to face with the decision-makers, and the mood in the room is unlikely to be quiet.

The club’s leadership face a demanding week. The Trust’s stance ensures that when the AGM begins, every decision and every answer will be under close scrutiny.

  1. So Brendan Rodgers has managed to accomplish part of what he set out to do. Cause a bigger divide between the board and the gullible section of the fans.
At least he isn’t around to cause further damage. His return was a massive mistake and the biggest one made by our board for sure!
As for the little small-minded people who masquerade as Celtic fans and continue to disrupt our club’s progress and success, I hope for your sake, and the sake of the only big club in the country, you one day realize you genuinely don’t have what it takes to open a bag of crisps without adult supervision! Never mind try to guide the very intelligent people who run a club who constantly sweep up everything before them.
I really wish you had been educated.

  2. What a knob you are Joe. Just because you are the chairman of the happy clapper club. Celtic don’t need supporters like you. Your forward thinking probably only entails “ Will I get 2 prawn sandwiches or one at halftime “ Stop trolling the comment sections. You absolute fucking tool!!!!!

  3. If the Celtic Trust were really interested in bringing back the glory days of Celtic FC being a great force in Europe, they should focus on specific positive things, instead of focusing on wanting to sack board members because they think the board members are incompetent. Do they have anyone in mind that they think should replace the members they want to resign? Imagine if the Celtic Trust got their way and all the board members they want out actually resigned, what do they suggest the next step should be? Who should replace them? The Celtic Trust is nothing more than a negative force, born out of a sense of entitlement. 13 titles out of the last 14 is not good enough for them. They want success in Europe too while playing in the 39th worst league in the world, making it impossible to attract the kind of players the Celtic Trust expect the board to bring in. If its success in Europe that is really what the Celtic Trust are trying to achieve, then I suggest they change their focus away from this negativity towards the board, and demand Celtic FC are allowed to play in a British league, fairly competing with all teams in Britain, such as Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Newcastle etc. Sacking the board while continuing to play in the SPFL will not get success in Europe, indeed it will just threaten the domestic success the club has dominated for the last 20 years.

  4. Look at the co-efficient that has dwindled under this board. Are you Joe in disguise. Total clear out of the board is needed. They have only been successful because of our support. Not another penny!!!!! First time in 34 years I have not bought the new Celtic strip and multiple other items. You can sit with Joe eating your prawn sandwiches TIT!!!

    • Celtic’s inability to compete at a high standard in Europe is not a fault of the board. It is down to the growing increase of the financial gap that Celtic have to compete against with teams in England. It’s not a level playing You and other supporters need to realize that this gap is getting bigger every year. Teams such as Bournemouth and Brentford can easily pay more for players and at least double the wages we can afford. So we identify a great player to play for us, but the player has the option to join a team playing in the premier league and get at least double wages, or they can play in the 39th worst league in the world for half the wages? The hard facts are, despite this huge handicap, the board have been exceptionally successful in bringing in players, despite every year the handicap getting more difficult. You say a total clear out of the board is needed. So if that is achieved what is your suggested next step?

      • There are plenty of other clubs in Europe who have even more of a financial gap than Celtic who are doing well in Europe.

  5. This argument is not about money or the league we plain, as we have shown we could compete well in the Champions League , against teams from better leagues and with better players.
It’s about the Board selling players who are key to our success, and not properly replacing them with the same quality. A Board that offers no transparency on any decisions taken by departmental Directors. An owner who doesn’t attend our AGM, and stand up and face our supporters.
To cap it all they will give each other a clap on the back and take their bonus for achieving nothing.
I have fully supported the ” Not a Penny ” campaign and will do so until there is changes at Board level .

  6. Anthony, your argument is totally naive. All Celtic supporters should know the Celtic model by now. We have to buy players with potential, develop them, then sell them at a profit. The board or a manager for that matter would be silly not to sell players, particularly if the money is huge and the players wants to leave, Keeping players against their will is not good for the team, not good for our model, not good for the players and is not good business. When the players are sold, yes of course they need replaced, but it is impossible to buy players of the same quality, because players of that quality already expect wages we can’t afford and would cost us 10’s of millions in transfer fees we can afford. Most players who have reached that standard don’t want to play in the SPFL no matter how much you give them! So the board and the management team need to juggle the playing resources to the best of their ability in a very difficult circumstance. Anytime Celtic do particularly well in Europe, richer teams will come in and harvest off our good players. The only thing we can do is bring in replacements with the potential to become as good as the player we have just sold. Every so often we will peak in Europe but for the most part we are team building. To try to insinuate our transfer record has been poor is both foolish and false. In the recent past, what other team in the world has bought so many good players for so little money that have progressed so well? Virgil Van Dyke, Moussa Dembele, Jota, Nicolas Khun, Matt O’Riley, Victor Wanyama, Kristoffer Ajer, Kyogo Furuhashi, Jeremy Frimpong, Josip Juranovic, Liel Abada, to name just a few. Do you really think that we can sell the likes of Matt O’Riley then immediately sign a replacement who is just as good for a fraction of the money? Of course not, yet you expect the board to be able to achieve this impossible feat season after season! What I will say is if Celtic were playing in a British league with access to the mega money on offer, none of these players would have needed to be sold!

  7. What chance do we have with idiots like that. They are the classic example of people just thinking we are successful because we can stay ahead of Sevco. Go back to your bowling clubs both of you. Most of us want more and demand more. We as supporters that pay money deserve more than the board that only takes money out!!!!!!!!

  8. There are a gullible section of small minded fans that want to be taken seriously while happy that our club continues being big fish in a very small pond, consistently winning domestically, but also expecting to compete with the big boys in Europe every season. One day they might twig that the answer for European progress was right on their doorstep, but they were too small minded and too cowardly to leave the shitty wee pond they feel comfortable in. Small minded people with no clue always blame others when things don’t go the way they want them to go. Like spoiled kids shouting abuse at their parents for not giving them the expensive present they wanted for Christmas. Go cry to mummy Matt 🙂 You are obviously not mature enough to face the real world.

    • Name calling as usual Mr McVey, instead of a cohesive argument.
Who exactly is it that you are accusing of being too cowardly to leave this shitty wee pond? Who actually takes responsibility for that? Only Celtic and the board and DD can do that at the moment. And why would that be possible since we are located here in Scotland. Your reasoning is unsound and illogical.

  9. John McVey
CQN is tailor made for you.
You can rant all day about how fantastic the board are, and that we are lucky to have them, dafties like yourself and Joe will love it.

  10. MCVEY. The real world is being aware of the need for change with this board. You pal are clearly in the minority. As Chris has said go and have yer board arse licking love with Paul on CQN. Get it up ye! You complete board apologist.
