Celtic have this afternoon unveiled the 2nd of our three January additions, with midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi arriving and getting used to his new surroundings at Lennoxtown.

The 25-year old, who has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Hoops, will wear the number 21 in the Green and White, which was of course last held by another midfielder, Oliver Ntcham.

Similarly to Maeda, Ideguchi will wear the same number at Celtic, as his previous club Gamba Osaka.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Ideguchi expressed his delight and excitement at joining Celtic to play under Ange Postecoglou and was also full of praise for his fellow Japanese internationalists, including Kyogo Furuhashi, who has had a brilliant impact in Glasgow so far.

“When I was in Japan, I watched his team, and I was interested in the style, so I’m excited to be able to join his team.

“I’ve spoken to the manager, and he said that he’s looking for me bring my style of play to the team.

“It certainly helps me in joining Celtic to have Daizen and Reo here are well, and I’m hoping to contribute to the team along with them.”

He added: “Kyogo is already contributing to the team,” he said, “so, like Kyogo, I want to be able to contribute to the team, although our playing styles are different.

“How Kyogo is playing is already big news in Japan. I respect him, and I’m really looking forward to playing with him, along with my other teammates.”

Ideguchi is probably the more unknown quantity and surprise signature of the three, according to some reports, but his signature adds some much-needed depth in the centre of the park.

Having already had the experience of being at a club in the UK, with the midfielder being on the books at Leeds United, he will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing spell at Elland Road, where he failed to make an appearance.

Fingers crossed, Ideguchi can get settled in quickly, alongside his new teammates who join him at the club in the January window.
