DEREK MCINNES has suggested that Celtic up their game against Aberdeen when they go head to head – offering up some sort of reason/excuse for why they haven’t won a game against the Scottish Champions in nine attempts.

McInnes has increasingly come under scrutiny for his team bottling it against the teams from Glasgow in recent years. Their trip to Ibrox a perfect example of the Dons not being able to sort themselves out when it matters.

The Aberdeen boss is correct to assume that Celtic will give his team their best and there will be no second string out like there was last Sunday against St Johnstone, but perhaps he is being too lenient on his own team – they should be up for these games just as much.

Speaking about what Celtic are like against his side – The Dons manager wasn’t criticising but trying to point out that maybe it’s out of his control.

“They are normally at full tilt in terms of team selection. You see some team selections against other teams (which are not so strong). That’s not a criticism, that’s just the way it is. They are utilising their squad

“But against us they make sure their big players are always on the pitch. They always make sure they have a fully motivated performance because they see the importance of the game as normally we’re their closest rivals.”

Celtic go head to head with McInnes’ side in the early kick off tomorrow. A game in which Celtic could go twelve clear of Aberdeen.
