Celtic take on Dundee this afternoon in the Scottish cup with the cloud of a boycott hanging over the tie. The Celtic board have only started to contact major fan groups in the wake of the boycott, but have yet to even speak to the Collective as well as still ignoring fan media who are banned.

It makes the game a little more difficult, but beyond the stuff going on off the field. There is plenty to look out for in Saturday’s early evening tie at Celtic Park.

Three signings on deadline mean there is potential for three debuts this afternoon. Joel Mvuka, Junior Adamu and Benjamin Arthur could all get some game time against Scottish Premiership opposition.

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill, Tynecastle Stadium
25th January 2026; Tynecastle Park, Edinburgh, Scotland: Scottish Premiership Football, Hearts versus Celtic; Celtic interim manager Martin ONeill arrives for the match

While it’s nice to bleed in new players gradually, Celtic really don’t have that luxury. Some may even start the game, to see where they’re at when it comes to match sharpness.

The Hoops lost the Scottish cup to Aberdeen in the final last season, going down on penalties. They will look to try and win back this trophy under Martin O’Neill this term, and must put their best foot forward during the game, fans or no fans.

Martin O’Neill has again steadied the ship. After doing so earlier in this season the appointment of Wilfried Nancy was a disaster, a lost cup final and 12 dropped SPFL points has Martin and his backroom staff up against it going into the final third of the season.

Hoops fans will hope the Irishman can pull off a minor miricale and land a double this campaign, but nothing is certain.

We hope the bhoys have a good outting against Dundee this evening and are prepared for the battles ahead with Livingston up next at Parkhead midweek.
