The conflicting reports from journalists are adding to the utter madness of Celtic’s attempts to appoint a new manager of the football club.

It’s done, it’s not done, it’s probably done, it might not be, Celtic want an answer, Celtic have an answer etc.

It’s become so tiresome.

Today another journalist who has been close to the deal and in recent times touted Howe for the top job in Scotland is now circling back to Celtic don’t have an answer from Howe yet.

I just find this all very hard to believe.

If Howe hasn’t given a strong indication he’s going to become the next Celtic manager, Dermot Desmond would have walked away by now, it’s as simple as that.

Desmond, for all his perceived faults, is a shrewd negotiator and would not allow things to get so far down the line unless there was a certain amount of comfort in what was going on.

Until it’s announced, fans will rightly question what’s going on and why something which should be a major deal for the club has been allowed to be turned into a circus.

Celtic can’t control what’s said in the media but they do speak to journalists on a regular basis. The PR battle has been lost.
