CELTIC and Brendan Rodgers are starting to step up their efforts to improve the squad ahead of next season’s Champions league qualifiers.

While there is still a small matter of a Scottish cup final to contest the Celtic manager is conscious that time is of the essence with regards to new personnel and the sooner he gets them in the better.

In that spirit, it has been reported that Celtic have held preliminary talks with Hibs about signing their star midfielder John McGinn.

The Scottish-born player has a lot of admirers with one of them being the Celtic manager.

John has impressed in a Championship winning Hibs side and been a nominee for player of the Championship 2 years on the bounce.

However, Hibs will not let go of their prized asset easily – with their own rebuilding they’ll have to do this summer, Neil Lennon is keen to keep McGinn. It will be up to Celtic to prove how much they want him.

Do you think John would be a good signing for Celtic?

  1. I agree with the previous comments. Young McGinn is an emerging talent but Celtic have a few young players of their own who deserve an opportunity at the first team. McGinn would be better staying and playing regularly at hibs next season

  2. I agree also with the above. Is he any better than the younger talent that we’ve got. Liam Henderson had a great season with hibs last season and has hardly kicked a ball this season.

  3. I would wait to see how he develops in the Hibs side next season when they play better, top teams ,the likes of Aberdeen or Rangers. If he still shines then you can put a bid in. Or risk it and loan him out for a year

  4. Young McGinn will be the next James McCarthy. If Celtic don’t sign him now then he’ll be in the Premiership in a couple of years. We will regret not signing him too. He’s in the mould of Brown. None of the other young talent has that.

  5. THE WEEKEND SHOWED WE HAVE GOT GOOD TALENT COMMING THROUGH McGINN WOULD BE IN BENCH OR NOT EVEN THE TEAM SHEET AT THE MOMENT

  6. Mcginn is a good player for hibs but celtic need players that can impress in the champions league maybe give him a nother year at hibs to see how he plays in the top league then may be the January transfer window if he can impress then go for hime but now disrespect the lad but we need to be relly good be for we should spend money on him then again if hibs want ambrose a swap mite work
