SCOTTISH FA president Rod Petrie has told supporters the semi-final and final of the Scottish Cup WILL go ahead at some point – even if it’s in 2021!

The former Hibs chairman wants the competition to come to a conclusion when they get the green light to start football back.

This would mean Celtic, Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen would all get their chance to win the competition. The semi-finals were already booked before the shutdown; it was Celtic vs Aberdeen while Hearts and Hibs were set to do battle in Glasgow for a place in the final.

“We want to play both the semi finals and the final in front of fans later in the year, even into next year.” Petrie told SunSport.

“That is why the regulation group looks at it and the Scottish FA has the power to determine when it can play that competition.

“We are going to have questions to deal with in terms of the practical arrangements for sets of supporters travelling.

“In a league one of the things you might look at in the league is having only the home fans there. So we may need to wait until we can have a meaningful and joyful Scottish Cup.”

Celtic are on course to win the league which would give them the league and cup double, but they were on course for a fourth consecutive treble.

It will give Celtic fans a major boost that these games will be seen out and the bhoys will have their chance to make more history when the time is right.
