With just four games remaining, the Hoops sit fourth in the table, eight points behind leaders Hibernian. While the odds are stacked heavily against them, Celtic still have a say in the title race with upcoming matches against all three sides above them – Rangers, Glasgow City, and Hibs – before wrapping up the campaign against Motherwell.

At New Douglas Park, it looked like another frustrating evening was on the cards as Hearts took the lead in the first half. But the Ghirls dug deep, and a moment of quality from Amy Gallacher drew them level.

The game seemed destined for a draw before Maria McAneny popped up in stoppage time to slot home a dramatic winner, sparking jubilant celebrations among the Celtic players and fans.

It’s been a challenging season for the reigning champions, who made history last term by becoming the first Scottish women’s side to compete in the Champions League. Inconsistent form and a strengthened league have made a title defence difficult, but Wednesday’s result showed there’s still fight in Elena Sadiku’s side.

Next up is a huge clash against Glasgow City at Petershill Park on Sunday – a must-win fixture if Celtic are to keep their faint hopes of back-to-back league titles alive.
