Celtic Women continued their pre-season preparations by picking up an emphatic victory over Blackburn Rovers.

Hoops boss Fran Alonso was speaking positively about the pre-season his side has had in the week, and they continued that this afternoon, defeating the English Championship side 4-0.

A first-half double from Charlie Wellings and a penalty from Chloe Craig, won by one of the newest recruits, María Ólafsdóttir Gros, gave Celtic a 3-0 lead at half-time.

Around 20 minutes from time, another new addition to Alonso’s squad, Wellings, added her third of the game, picking up a hat-trick.

The Ghirls have faced several English opposition in pre-season so far, as they prepare to take their first venture into the Champions League.

Next month, they will face off against Spanish side Levante in Norway and should they progress in that fixture, play the winners of Rosenborg or Minsk to reach the next round of the competition.

Alonso will be looking to build on last seasons successful campaign, which saw his side finishing 2nd. It’s early days in pre-season, but things are looking very positive ahead of the new season.
