Celtic Women produced a late fightback to defeat Aberdeen 3-1 this afternoon.

Fran Alonso’s side came into this game off the back of reaching a League Cup of their own last weekend with a win over Hibernian and were looking to build on that result with a victory at home this afternoon.

It didn’t get off to the best of starts in the first half at the Penny Cars Stadium, though, as Aberdeen took the lead before the 40-minute mark through Bayley Hutchison.

Having already fallen behind a little at the top of the league, three points were crucial from this game to keep pace with the two at the top.

With it looking like it might not be Alonso’s sides afternoon towards the end, the Hoops produced a late fightback, scoring three goals in the final 10 minutes of the game.

A double from Clarissa Larisey and a further late strike from Cheyenne Shorts secured all three points at a late stage in the game.

Next up for the Women’s side is another tough test away from home against top of the table rivals Glasgow City next weekend.

That fixture could be seen as somewhat of a warm-up fixture, with the cup final between the two sides to take place the following week. However, Fran Alonso and his squad’s sole focus will be on the league for now.
