Aislin Streicek has opened up on the family link that has helped her settle into life at Celtic following her move from Boston College this summer.
The Hoops star made the switch to Glasgow ahead of the new SWPL campaign and has already spoken about the pride she feels in pulling on the green and white hoops.
Now Streicek has revealed that her cousin is none other than former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew, a connection that has eased her transition both on and off the pitch.
She explained that Mulgrew and his family have been a constant support since she arrived, with their influence making her move to Scotland feel like a natural step.
She said: (Sky Sports), “Charlie Mulgrew is my cousin, so growing up and watching him play was such a huge inspiration.
“My whole family is Celtic fans, so I knew I wanted to play here one day.
“He’s been constantly checking in, his son Josh is with the under 19s and we train at the same facilities, so even just having him around, going over to their house for dinner, hanging out, it’s been good to talk to them to get settled.”
Streicek’s comments show how much her family link has helped her settle into a new country and surroundings. Having Mulgrew nearby has made her feel at home straight away.
His guidance has also given her extra drive, with the ex-Celtic defender’s career serving as an example to follow. For Streicek, carrying on that family tie in the women’s side is something she’s proud of.
Her move is also a sign of Celtic’s rising status in the women’s game, bringing in players from overseas while staying connected to its roots.
Looking ahead, Streicek will continue to make her own mark at the club. With family close for support, she seems ready to play a big role in her debut season at Celtic.
