Celtic dropped points for the first time since new year today as a second half Kevin Van Veen equaliser ensured Ange Postecoglou and his players did not take away maximum points.

The Hoops weren’t their usual clinical selves this afternoon however one positive to take from the match was Rocco Vata’s encouraging cameo.

On 79 minutes with the score at 1-1, the youngster came on in place of Matt O’Riley. The fact Postecoglou decided to bring on Vata at such a stage of the match where Celtic were chasing a winner shows how much trust and faith he has in the Irishman.

Although the 18 year old wasn’t able to alter the final outcome of the match, he still managed to capture the imagination.

Playing on the right hand side, Vata constantly looked to receive the ball from Alistair Johnston and when he did, always tried to take on his man and do something productive.

In just over 15 minutes on the pitch, Vata created two chances and one big chance for his teammates, registering an xA (expected assists) of 0.53 (FotMob).

Vata’s cameo was undoubtedly encouraging and it displays how much talent and potential he possesses.

Going forward, it would be great to see the teenager get more and more minutes as his ability is already of an impressive level and it is only going to improve.
