Chris Sutton believes Celtic face a far tougher test at Rugby Park than the table might suggest, warning that Neil McCann’s revitalised Kilmarnock could make life uncomfortable for Martin O’Neill’s side this afternoon.
Speaking ahead of the Sky Sports broadcast, the former Hoops striker stressed the significance of the day’s fixtures, with Celtic kicking off before Hearts face Rangers.
“Well, you know, it’s enormous,” Sutton said. “The implications after today, you know, Celtic have just got to worry about their own business, try and close that gap on Hearts at the top.”

He acknowledged the unpredictability of the title race picture depending on events elsewhere. “If Hearts nick a result at Ibrox, which, you know, is possible, of course. I’m not sure who’s going to win that one.”
Despite The Scottish champions entering the match as favourites, Sutton is not convinced it will be straightforward. “I’m not sure Celtic are going to win today with the bounce Kilmarnock have had under Neil McCann, especially here in the Scottish top flight.”
Sutton also pointed to The Hoops recent performances, suggesting they have not controlled matches as convincingly as they would like. He also believes goal difference could yet play a role in the title race.
Sutton expects McCann’s side to be organised and dangerous on the break, highlighting hat-trick hero Tyreece John-Jules as a key threat.
“You’ll see Kilmarnock maybe sit deep at times and look for that sort of quick transition ball in behind the Celtic centre-halves.”
“Kilmarnock will fancy this.”
The game kicks off at 2pm.
