Since the derby draw on Sunday we have read a lot of takes from a lot of different pundits and journalists who commentate on Scottish football.

While The Rangers are still in Europe, we have noticed a very skewed outlook on what the result truly meant for both clubs.

Celtic were on course to win back their title at the first chance of asking before Sunday. However, a defeat for Ange Postecoglou’s men would’ve put the cat among the pigeons for the final three games and gave the current Champions at least an outside chance of making an unlikely comeback.

The draw all but ended their chances of winning the title, yet we’ve not really seen the despair that often accompanies such a result.

After all, this isn’t just an SPFL title win, this is the keys to the Champions league and the truckload of cash that brings with it.

Celtic fans were despondent at the start of the season, believing we were going to hand the Ibrox club the keys to that vast amount of cash.

In an incredible turnaround, we’ve managed to nip in and take it and with their backs against the wall in the last chance saloon The Rangers put up a real fight in the last 20 minutes of a game after scoring against the run of play.

The Europa League is currently their comfort blanket; their eggs, their chickens, their whole season is in that particular basket. If they were to get knocked out of the competition this week, the reality would set in.

The narrative post-match has been one of ‘oh well’. Not quite the reaction to losing out on guaranteed £30-£40m.

Celtic on the other hand are on the cusp of the cash windfall and despite what many have said about the squad – they absolutely deserve it.

  1. Just get this job done over the line then every one will be more than happy with guaranteed £30-£40m but we must reinvest money if we want to stay at the top table there is no good getting there once we need to be there year in year out the £30-£40m from the Champions league money should be used as a platform to give Ange 2 or 3 big name players that can fit like a glove in to his team Celtic fc are a huge club but we need that top player name that the world knows playing for Celtic fc…
