Celtic could have two starters ready to go for the Glasgow Derby next weekend as James Forrest continues his recovery and Nir Bitton returns to the fold from injury.

Celtic played a bounce game against Kilmarnock at Lennoxtown and both Nir Bitton and James Forrest got game time.

John Kennedy was in attendance as the bhoys ran out 5-0 winners on the day.

Celtic didn’t have a game this weekend so it was imperative the Hoops kept and got some of their players up to speed.

Nir has been out for dome time but it’s likely he’ll start from the bench next Sunday.

James Forrest could be pushing for a start if John Kennedy wants to unless some width in this Celtic side when Steven Gerrard’s men come to visit.

Speaking to Celtic TV last week James Forrest said: “I was delighted to get back on the pitch against Dundee United.

“I can’t even describe it. It’s felt like such a long time.

“I was delighted to be back training with the boys for the last ten days and I just want to keep continuing my comeback.

“I want to get more training sessions and games in as the season goes on.”

James could help galvanise this slow Celtic side and perhaps give them a new attacking impetus to have a real go in the Scottish Cup.

The tournament is back on after being postponed earlier this year. Celtic will find out next week who they will be facing in the third round of the competition. Arbroath or Falkirk await the bhoys in green at the start of April.
