Celtic have been intertwined with Cluj since the start of the season when the Romanian side unceremoniously dumped Celtic out of the Champions League qualifiers.

After that, they also failed to make the Champions League and found themselves in Celtic’s Europa League group. The bhoys beat them at Celtic Park and since then have won every game in the group to top the table.

Celtic’s last game of the group stage will be against Cluj next week and it appears Dan Petrescu is trying to rally Romanian football to give them a helping hand before the tie.

The outspoken manager wants the Romanian League to postpone their weekend game in order to prepare for Celtic next Thursday.

“It’s very important we postpone this match at the weekend otherwise we have no chance against Celtic.” Dan Petrescu Told RecordSport.

“I don’t understand why there are so many games just now. You can see we are very tired.

“We are trying to qualify for the good of Romanian football and yet we are hampered by having to play so many games at this time.

“All of Romania should be supporting us at this time and we need all the help we can get.”

Celtic have already qualified and have the luxury of not needing to bring their full first team squad with them to Romania.

If Celtic win and Lazio win on the night Cluj would go out of the competition. A point would be enough for the Romanian’s on the night to seal a place in the last 32.
