BBC Sportscene pundit James McFadden reflected on the Hoops’ journey under Brendan Rodgers in the last year.
With doubts over Rodgers’ return to Celtic, the Irishman has gone from trailing behind Rangers in the Scottish Premiership in February to going on one of the best runs in the club’s history since then.
McFadden said: (BBC Sport), “It’s been fascinating watching Celtic evolve in this competition and I’m expecting them to improve again tonight.”
With different styles of performances, two impressive attacking home wins over Slovan Bratislava and RB Leipzig, a defensive masterclass away in Bergamo against Atalanta, and a complete collapse against Borussia Dortmund in Germany, Celtic’s Champions League campaign has had it all, with Rodgers altering his tactics against each opponent.
Celtic appear to have finally found their feet in Europe, learning how to attack at home and be more conservative away.
A 7-1 defeat in Dortmund highlighted that the Hoops can’t attack in the same style away from home or they will be torn apart.
This was further emphasised by a great performance against Atalanta, where they were far more defensively solid.
Rodgers deserves credit for a great start to the Champions League campaign, with 7 points from four games.
