We as Celtic fans know that this season hasn’t been good enough and that includes each of the Glasgow Derby results that have seen.

This campaign, we are yet to win one of these fixtures. In fact, you would have to go back to December 2019 in the Betfred Cup final to find Celtic’s last victory over Rangers.

Not all have been poor performances, with the last two derby games standing out as some good displays from this squad. However, ultimately the result is all that matters and that has been disappointing.

If we want to win this huge fixture and advance in the cup, there is one thing in particular that NEEDS to be resolved which we simply haven’t been good enough at against our rivals in recent times.

That is defending set-pieces.

The last five goals that Celtic have conceded against Rangers have all come from set-plays, so it is clear that Steven Gerrard’s side has taken advantage of our weakness in that sense.

That statistic should shock those behind the scenes at the club and if we were to lose a game in that fashion once more on Sunday would simply not be good enough.

So, it is crucial that John Kennedy and his coaching staff have been working on defending these types of situations or we could be in for another frustrating afternoon.
