SOUTHAMPTON has not been shy at coming in for Celtic talent and they’ve reaped the rewards of signing Celtic stars over the past five years.

While they have paid more than other clubs would for talent playing in the Scottish League they have made some serious money off the back of Celtic players and certainly benefited from their on-field presence.

With Stuart Armstrong looking like the latest player to be heading to St Mary’s from Parkhead, the transfer fees brought in by Celtic from the English outfit climbs again.

This is a lot for Celtic but to put it into perspective – The Saints sold van Dijk for £75million and Wanyama for £18million.

Celtic’s model of developing players and moving them on for big money continues to succeed. While some fans may not like it, the transfer model has served Celtic well and will continue to do so.
