CELTIC are struggling for numbers and it’s little wonder – even if we had a full side to choose from, we don’t have depth.

You look at the list below and you quickly understand why we’ve struggled over the past few weeks.

We have had top players out for a sustained period of time and any team who misses so many first-team players is going to struggle.

Celtic’s current injury list

  • Kyogo Furuhashi
  • Callum McGregor
  • James Forrest
  • Christopher Jullien
  • Josip Juranović
  • Greg Taylor
  • Georgios Giakoumakis
  • Mikey Johnston
  • Karamoko Dembelé

There could be some good news if Cal Mac and even Kyogo come back ahead of schedule – Ange Postecoglou hasn’t ruled out both men making a come back just before the international break.

Christopher Jullien has been out since December and will be back training with the team in mid-October.

Giakoumakis is again close, but given he’s had no game time for any club this season – we shouldn’t expect too much too soon.

Juranovic was the latest player to get injured, hobbling off against Dundee Utd with a calf injury and he’ll be out for a few weeks. No word yet if he’ll be fit for Motherwell away on October 16.

James Forrest is also due back after the international break but how fit will the winger be upon his return?

Greg Taylor, Mikey Johnston and Karamoko Dembele don’t have a date yet for their return. MJ is closer than the others but given his injury track record, is he someone we can rely on?

  1. What cannot happen is that these players return only to be shipped out for international duty to risk further injury playing meaningless games for their country. Club ALWAYS comes before country and I want all Celtic players withdrawn from the tedium of international matches indefinitely.
