It’s been a dramatic evening for Joel Mvuka, the Lorient winger who appeared destined for Celtic, until a late hitch in his medical cast doubt over the move.

What was supposed to be a straightforward permanent signing suddenly stalled, forcing the club into a race against the clock.
Concerns flagged during Mvuka’s medical led Celtic to reassess the terms of the deal, prompting a last-minute renegotiation. Now, according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph, Celtic have worked swiftly to restructure the agreement. The revised terms see Mvuka arrive on loan with an option to buy, rather than an immediate transfer.
The club “hope” to have a deal sorted before the 11 pm deadline in Scotland, and look to make two announcements, with Benjamin Arthur also expected to arrive on loan.
The option-to-buy clause is set at £3 million, the same fee Celtic were originally expected to pay upfront, meaning that if Mvuka impresses and proves his fitness, a permanent switch is still very much on the cards.
There’s now just over 30 minutes remaining in the transfer window, and Celtic will be pushing to complete all paperwork in time.
It’s another intense deadline-day twist for the Hoops, who are under pressure from fans to deliver further reinforcements before the window slams shut.
