KRISTOFFER AJER got a heroes send off when he left FC Start for Celtic last year. It was quite remarkable to see a fanbase take someone so young to their heart. The adulation Ajer received was not without merit – in his two years playing in Norwegian football he became the youngest player to ever captain a Eliteserien side.

Such was the players determination, tenacity and natural talent he was given a heavy load at young age and thrived under the challenge.

When Celtic came calling Ajer and his representatives seen this as a natural progression and a move where the player could harness his natural talent and improve upon it.

Kristoffer was signed up under the old management regime in Ronny Deila and John Collins setup but when he finally arrived at Celtic Park it was Brendan Rodgers who was at the helm. It’s always a worry as a player when the man who brought you to the club isn’t there anymore. The Celtic manager ran the rule over his squad and made the judgement that the 6ft 5″ defender would be better developing behind the scenes and play with the developmental squad.

Everyone will know that the developmental side can only get you so far and it was no real surprise when the player was loaned out to Kilmarnock in January to get real first team experience in the SPFL. Kristoffer walked into Rugby Park and quickly became one of Kilmarnock’s best players, the Killie fans singing his praises on a weekly basis.

After getting sixteen SPFL games under his belt, the defender is now back at Celtic Park and keen to build on last season with the hope of breaking into the first team.

We hope Brendan is seeing something in the player that made him the youngest captain in Norwegian football and why the Celtic scouting system and Ronny Deila seen fit to sign the lad back in February of last year.

Ajer came with glowing references and a real excitement that he could be someone Celtic could mould into a top player, much like they’ve done with players in the past.

As we get prepared for pre-season friendlies, it will become evident very soon whether Brendan has Kristoffer in his plans this season. He certainly deserves the opportunity to show his worth.

  1. A reasonable article. But is this a piece released by cfc to support the sale of jozo?

Why are the media sites not highlighting the complete and utter lack of transfer activity? Brendan clearly stated he wanted players in early. So maybe he wanted players out early? Johnny Hayes brings us not one mm Closer to winning a cl game. We’re treading in the same old biskit tin mire. Standing still. Where is the 30m from the cl ? In the friggin biskit tin. Since the end of the season we’ve depleted the team enormously with the loss of paddy. Offering 5m was an insult to man city. Why we bring in loan players is beyond my comprehension. What exactly do we gain from it? It’s like smelling great coffee but not getting to finish the cup. All show and no real substance.

Well in Brendan we trust to get quality players in for cl.

  2. Yes what has happened to the money from CL no disrespect to the lad they got from Aberdeen .we need some quality we got lucky with dembele but if they truly want to progress in CL we need at least 2 top players to bring the team along in my opinion .

  3. It is early but Celtic have done what Celtic always do and that is watch the pennies and stand still. The supporters are very short-sighted. Last year is gone and they should have and could have sold Roberts. Roberts would have signed until he found out that Celtic don’t rate him as highly as they claimed. the supporters have also forgotten that the guys in charge do not give a toss about investment or the future of Celtic beyond the next balance sheet. If they are getting your money then they are happy. This will result in Roedgers leaving probably by next summer. he won’t hang around when eh finds out that the money they spent last season only happens when they are forced to do so.

  4. why the fuck are you all panicking we have lost 1 player from our fisrt team squad since the ebd of the season .brendan has been on honeymoon and the the last i checked aberdeen have lost half their first team .we only sig ed 2 players last summer .and the difference in the team was staggering . have faith an calm doon .would you rather be signing a shit load of south americans . we dont need to waste money on quantity . gutted paddy wont be back but yer kidding yerselfs on if u think its about money . hes came up here won everything and wants to try something different

  5. theres 2 months left in the window so give it a rest, they only went back to pre season 3 days ago and Brendan is just back after getting married, quality signings take time or would u all prefer unknown Portuguese/Mexicans vloaringvthe squad, give them time and u will see what happens
