CELTIC’S AGM was on Friday, with a wide range of topics discussed.

A hot topic was Celtic’s next chairman, with Ian Bankier stepping down at the end of the calendar year, announcing his retirement in July.

Celtic has yet to name his successor, and the board was pushed for an answer at several stages of the meeting. No answer was given, with those on the panel insisting that conversations would remain private and an announcement would be made to the stock exchange in due course.

“The decision to step down was my decision. It wasn’t something that was on the agenda. As soon as the board has made a decision, it will be announced to the stock exchange and markets.”

There’s been no indication as to who might be stepping up, but fans are fearful of a Peter Lawwell return. If the club had some sense, they wouldn’t do this, as mass outrage would be sparked.

There are still a few months to find someone to fill Bankier’s boots, but the festive period can be really busy, so Celtic will look to tie someone down sooner rather than later.
