Celtic and Ange Postecoglou didn’t sign anyone from the SPFL in the summer. It was a surprising move at the time, many thought the Hoops would look closer to home to help facilitate the rebuild.

As we get closer to the January window, speculation will continue to get louder. However, there’s a chance Celtic could sign their first player at the start of December – someone who is a tried and tested SPFL star.

John Souttar is coming into the final few months of his contract. According to SunSport it will end in May next year instead of the traditional June end of contract. It means John will be able to sign a pre-contract with a new club at the beginning of December.

Everything with regards to any move for Souttar from Celtic’s side is pure speculation at this point. We lack depth in the centre of the park, but John is in demand – is there a deal to be done?

Our Glasgow rival’s are claimed to be interested in the Hearts stopper – is that a more viable destination?

We were surprised when Celtic didn’t go after the likes of Ali McCann or Kevin Nisbet in the last window. Are the bhoys seeing better value elsewhere?

John has battled back from serious injury and called his return off with a goal for Scotland against Denmark during the last international break.
